Welcome back! I hope everyone had a relaxing spring break. We are in the final stretch of the school year. The third quarter ends on Friday. If anyone would like a conference, I would be happy to meet via Zoom or outside (weather permitting).
The students will present their mammal research papers to the class on Monday. They have done well with this research assignment! We'll move onto weather on Tuesday. Each 2nd grader has a prayer partner from the St. Paul Church Women's Guild. If your child receives a card or note from a prayer partner, I encourage a response back. We will keep these ladies in our daily prayers as well. Keep up the math facts work as they're doing well with their addition timed tests to practice addition fluency. The more they practice, the better they will get. Even 10 minutes a day is sufficient. Give them some addition and subtraction problems in the car when driving or at the dinner table. Have a wonderful week! Here is a look at our week: religion - daily prayers, Lent, Good News, Mass, Stations of the Cross, virtue: diligence ela (english language arts - reading, writing, speaking, listening) - fiction and non-fiction literature about weather, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, discussions, writing responses to literature, self-selected reading spelling - compound words math - Regrouping: 3 - digit subtraction with regrouping, addition and subtraction basic facts - make sure they're practicing at home, timed addition facts handwriting - letter formation, spacing, legibility science/social studies - weather, Scholastic News FYI

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
We will begin our mammal research reports this week! Each student will be assigned a mammal and they will have to do research (all done in class) about the mammal. They will write a report and present it to the class as well. They are doing well with regrouping in math. The most common mistake is not knowing addition facts (continue practice at home) and forgetting to add what was regrouped. It's a lot of steps, but overall, they've got it. We will finish up this week with the addition regrouping and then next week start subtraction regrouping. I do believe all MAP testing in the school is finished, therefore we get Mrs. Hancks back for those students that see her. She is not only our reading teacher, but also coordinates all MAP testing in our building. We're very appreciative and thankful for all that she does. Have a wonderful week!
