Math Homework - Have your child practice skip counting and recognizing patterns by twos, fives and tens. If they can to 100, try increasing the hundreds place value. Work on addition and subtraction facts to 20.

Here are some free online learning websites that your child can visit and work on at home:

Math Facts
Have your child work on addition math facts from 0 adding up through 10. If they have mastered addition facts without counting on in their head (automatic is the goal by the end of 2nd grade), then have them do subtraction or fact families (2+3=5, 3+2=5, 5-2=3, 5-3=2). Some examples include: 3 + 6, 7 + 7, 8 + 5, etc or 12 - 4, 11 - 3, 18 - 9, etc. If they still need manipulatives or number lines that is fine. The more they practice, the better they will get.

Reading for 20 minutes every night and logging books will be the majority of homework in 2nd Grade. Homework may be assigned if your child does not finish an assignment in class or needs more practice with a certain skill. There is more information on homework in my VIP packet.
